April, so glad you agree. I really do believe that, as it stands, dressing the way you want to dress is a matter of risk assessing and responsibility. And there is probably a whole other article to be written about women being objectified; while the majority are annoyed by it, there are a few of us kinksters, blushing, and asking to be objectified. It's a fine balance!

I read somewhere, I wish I could remember where, another interpretation. The person felt that the Slutwalk was not only about reclaiming the word, but about teaching people that women can dress however they want and shouldn't be objectified. They shouldn't be groped or whistled at or looked at any differently than if they weren't dressed provocatively. Now, in a perfect world, I wish that would be the case. But it just isn't. I don't feel that there's any way to change or end women being objectified when they dress provocatively. That's just the way it is.

And like you wrote, as a woman, we have to understand that that IS the way it is, and know that there IS a risk when we dress that way. I really, really wish that wasn't the case and by no means am I saying that these women deserve any sexual violence or assault. Like you, I'm just saying that because of reality, we as women have to understand that there is a risk, as much as it sucks.
