THANK YOU - your comment really enhances the article as a whole; I had intended to discuss the fact that safewords aren't infallible as well, but I completely forgot. Ironic really! I was so involved with the writing that I forgot my safe word. I could not agree with you more.

I haven't read the original article yet, I'll head over there after this and check it out. But yes, I am very much in agreement that it's rather disconcerting to read an authoritative figure dishing out blanket statements such as these. I choose not to play with a safe word because I play with my partner of 7 years whom I trust implicitly. I don't believe safe words are infallible and many subs find themselves unable to use them once deeply involved in a scene anyway.

Having said that, my husband and I are aware of the 'traffic light' system and he is assured that I will call 'red' if I need to. This is more for his benefit than mine; as a novice Dom it is important to him that he knows I can tell him when he's gone too far - and this allows me to be able to beg & plead for mercy without him thinking I actually want him to stop ;)

In short, I do agree with the points he's made as far as that's how *I* choose to play. I'd never dream of telling anybody else that they aren't a Twue Submissive if they choose to play differently.

Great post. x
